I bought this doll from Turn of the Century Antiques, Denver, CO. It has been pinned on Pinterest many times. Here is the description that was with the doll when she was for sale on e bay. 17Antique French Fashion Doll with swivel head. Fantastic dress that a skilled seamstress made from the dolls original dress.
The seamstress took off the trim and used the same antique silk fabric as the original one which was the exactly same color as the original dress and remade the dress exactly like the original. The trim is exactly the way it was including her buckle at the waist, silk covered buttons, with correct scalloping at bottom of dress with crinoline lining. No damage and no repair made in France circa 1870.
I will add, there is tape? Around both arms at the elbow. She came that way to me.
Nice dark red leather boots with 3 silver shoe button closures. Two piece antique cotton slip and pantalets. The doll is Gorgeous with finely feathered brows, mauve eye shadow over delicately painted upper and lower lashes over spiral threaded glass paperweight eyes. Nice soft rosy cheeks, outlined lips, with peaches and cream bisque. Mohair wig over original cork pate.Clean kid leather body is gusseted with separately stitched fingers. Just a beautiful doll through and through. Our doll curator says this doll is a Portrait Jumeau because of the face and the mauve eye shadow over the eyes. I added the antique hat she is wearing.
