Pinky-peach and cream describe this scarce bisque head angel-faced beauty! She was made circa 1900 by Simon Halbig for Wiesenthal Schindel and Kammenberg of Walterhausen. Her stunning, huge chocolate brown glass paperweight eyes still have a working sleep mechanism. She has a pale creamy bisque complexion, peachy blushed cheeks and lovely outlined lips. At 21 inches tall, she is not too small or too big.The back of her bisque is marked SH WSK4 and there is no made in Germany mark--an indication of an earlier doll. Her newer white blond, wavy mohair wig combined with her charming, true vintage flower, beribboned hair garland give her a sweet bohemian flavor. She is wearing a lovely long antique net lace embroidered blessings gown. I folded the bottom of the gown for display in the photos to show that there is no need to permanently alter/shorten the beautiful garment. Her antique lace pantaloons are so darling tied with silk ombré pink ribbons.
In her pierced ears are pale pink faux pearl earrings. I added the silk pinky-peach ribbon and the brocade ribbon for a sash at her waist to complete her adorable look.
She comes from an Antique doll collector in Montreal, Quebec complete with the original plaster pate, antique leather boots, darling antique socks and the beautiful antique gown she was found in. Condition: Her bisque is in excellent condition with no hairlines or cracks. Her wood and composition ball-jointed body seems to have the original paint and still displays the original red painted lines on her fingers and toes. The body shows some typical scuffs and paint losses. Her hands shows the typical wear found on antique dolls.
There is an old repair to the composition below the right knee--see photo. She has an open mouth with no teeth which is probably not the original condition. Her lack of teeth gives her the sweet look of a character doll.
She has a few tiny kiln specks on her bisque. I use a doll stand to display her as her stringing could be tightened. There are very few examples of this doll mold on the internet. She is hard to part with and she looks so beautiful in my displays but I recently bought another doll that I need to make room for. I hope she finds a home where she is as well loved and appreciated!
