From a "family" of regional dolls. Outstanding and all original, 15 1/2 tall, antique 1910-20s, Russian male doll with a bisque, swivel socket head and matching painted brown wooden body with ball-joints at his elbows, wrists , shoulders, hips and knees and wonderful finger detail. This handsome boy doll has large, deep blue glass, sleeping eyes, finely feathered, upper and lower eyelashes and eyebrows as well as a delicately outlined open mouth with row of tiny teeth. His golden FLAX wig is combed back and covered beneath his charcoal grey flannel wool hat. He is wearing all his original clothing from the Ukrainian province or district that he represents : a long cotton, light blue, printed striped, shirt with colorful floral cotton border, collar and placket and glass bead closures over wonderful denim blue, printed cotton, loose trousers tied below the knees and tightly wrapped muslin leg wraps tied with cord, woven wicker, straw-type shoes (lapti) and a long crimson red sash.

He also wears a long, camel tan wool coat/jacket with beautiful burgundy lining and red trim. He has a sewn on cloth label : Made in Soviet Union, on his shirt and an incised number on the back of his head. As we have recently discovered he is from Dunaev, and the destroyed Zhuravlev & Kockeshkov doll factory using a German K&R doll head mold. He is in excellent condition with no damages or repairs, no cracks or hairlines, no repaint, no holes or stains, no tears and no odors as he is from a smoke free home. Other Russian family dolls are not included and will each be listed separately.
