Antique c1920s bisque sockethead Russian boy dolls in wonderful orig. Costumes

From a "family" of regional dolls. Outstanding and all original, 11 1/2 tall, antique 1918-20s, Russian male doll with a bisque, swivel socket head and matching painted brown wooden body with joints at his elbows, shoulders, hips and knees and wonderful finger detail.

This handsome boy doll has large, blue glass, sleeping eyes, finely feathered, upper and lower eyelashes and eyebrows as well as a delicately outlined open mouth with row of tiny teeth. His golden FLAX wig is parted in the middle and combed back. He is wearing all his original clothing from the Ukrainian province or district that he represents : a long cotton, tan, printed shirt with brown design, floral printed collar and placket and glass bead side closures over wonderful dark blue, printed cotton, loose trousers tied below the knees and tightly wrapped muslin leg wraps tied with cord, woven wicker, straw-type shoes (lapti) and a long crimson red paisley printed wool sash. He also carries a 4 tall, miniature, Russian boy doll version dressed in matching outfit including his shoes.

H e is from Dunaev, and the destroyed Zhuravlev & Kockeshkov doll factory using a German K&R doll head mold. Marked on the back of his neck, hard to read all the lettering. In excellent condition with no damages or repairs, no cracks, chips or hairlines, no repaint, no holes or stains, no tears and no odors as he is from a smoke free home. Other Russian family dolls shown are not included and will each be listed separately. Please note that nearly all of our items are antique or vintage (usually with some signs of wear due to usage and previous storage).
