Such a rare beauty, made for the French market an 1880 Black Belton Bisque doll with ethnic features and caracul wig. There is no markings on her bisque head, she looks like the 179 Belton listed in Foulke's 2011 Book, pg 41. She has two holes for stringing. She is in wonderful condition with no damage to her bisque head, no flaws, so sweet and a nice 9 cabinet size doll.Painted so nicely with fired in color, black glass eyes, large red lips, with wider nose that give her true black ethnic features that are so desired! Her Belton head is flat on top with white bisque showing. Her caracul wig is full and fits perfectly on her head.
She is dressed in her sweet old lace white lawn dress and pantaloons with a black velvet coat with red trim. She wears a matching bonnet and has a periscope Stanhope with The Lord's Prayer inside, it is stamped France.
She has a sweet little 5 piece early compo body with nicely painted socks and shoes. Her body has no repaint and some wear on the upper rim of left thigh, otherwise excellent. Her neck swivels nicely, a little loose, she is strung with her original wire so I left her.Her antique coat shows wear and has a small split in the back, her clothing very old, with hook and eye closures and snaps on her undergarments. She comes with her sweet wardrobe and stanhope. The last photo shows her with her lady friends and dog, not included. She is a rare treasure! Don't miss out on this early 1880 Black Belton Young Lady!
