This pretty doll measures approx 17 inches, and was made by the German firm Wagner & Zetzsche. Prior to 1916, the heads were supplied by several firms, such as Gebruder Heubach which accounts for the two separate numbers on the head. The markings are 10586 W u Z J Germany 200 / 6½. She is very pretty with blue glass eyes, and lashes.
The eyes have been fixed, so they no longer open and close as they once would have done. She has 4 teeth, nicely painted raised brows, and her original rich chestnut coloured antique mohair wig.She is nicely dressed in her antique whitework dress, underskirt, camisole top, and long Johns. There are no chips or cracks to the head, but there are some wig-pull marks around top of head where the wig had been removed. There is also a minor rub to the tip of her nose. The body is sturdy and in good condition, showing only minor wear and tear. It looks as if the body has has an old repaint at some time.
If so, it has been done well. Wig pull around top of head. Rub on tip of nose. This all makes her sound worse than she is but I like to point out any imperfections, so you know exactly what you are getting.
A pretty doll though, from a not so common maker, who would make a nice addition to any collection.
