Rare Antique German Bisque Doll made by Kuhnlenz - Jumeau Mold 44-27. Very Rare Kuhnlenz - Jumeau Doll dated late 19th to early 20th Century.
Brown Eyes and Painted Eyelids. Pierced Ears with one Earring still in place, the other is missing.
Head is still in good period condition with just what appears to be a very fine hairline crack at the back of the head above the mold stamp though we are not certain of this. Body is however marked by time, numerous cracks and scuff marks are apparent which are highlighted on our pictures. The finger tips are scuffed and part of her left foot is cracked and may have been glued back though this is not certain. The tension in the stringing is loose and would need to be re-tightened. This doll is part of a collection that once belonged to a French Nun in the early 20th Century who looked after children in France after the war. Upon her passing these dolls were found in her attic and passed on to her nephew who looked after them and displayed them in a cabinet away from Dust and Sunlight for many years. Wether those dolls were acquired by the nun at the time or brought over by the children she looked after and then left behind is unknown but it is entirely possible they were once played with. Every effort has been made to describe this doll accurately and to the best of our knowledge as we are neither antique dealers nor collectors. High Definition Close up Pictures were taken from most angles and we would be delighted to send you additional pictures of certain angles should you require them. It comes from a completely smoke free environment. We speak English & French and would be delighted to answer your queries.
