Wearing her Sunday best and ready for Spring. Here is a darling and hard to find, 17 1/2 tall, antique, brown or black (African American) bisque sockethead doll, circa 1915 by Armand Marseille, Germany and fully signed on the back of her head as mold #390.
She has her original, fully jointed, composition and wood, stick type body with some slight damage to one finger and what looks to be an old replaced lower leg (paint does not match). She has pretty, big brown, antique glass, sleep eyes, finely painted, upper and lower eyelashes, multi-stroke brows, pretty open mouth with teeth and nice thick, original black, human hair wig with hand sewn part. She has a few paint rubs on her face (as shown) and the wax on her eyelids need a little work. She does not have any cracks, chips, hairlines, repairs or odors and wears her original, antique polished cotton dress with lace trim and matching bonnet.(loc 19) She'll make a wonderful addition to your antique doll collection as dark skinned, bisque dolls by this maker and of this size are quite difficult to find. Please note: nearly all of our items are antique or vintage (usually with some signs of wear due to usage and previous storage). We do our very best to describe and photograph them for you and do not repair, restring, repaint or enhance them in any way as most collectors prefer to find them in their original state. Please use the zoom feature on our photos as they are an important part of the description (any white spots are glare from the flash and not on the doll). We try to list our items below current book value and will consider reasonable offers and respond after the item has been listed for at least twenty-four hours. We appreciate your interest and hope you enjoyed your visit. Let us know if we can help you with anything else. We have more antique and vintage dolls, dollhouse furniture and antique dollhouse dolls available, each listed separately. We appreciate five star reviews. If there is a problem with your item, please let us know prior to leaving feedback and we will do our best to make sure you are satisfied.
