This listing is for a vintage/antique? Bisque head boy doll in Russian ethnic dress.I believe this doll may have been made by Kammer & Reinhardt or another German company, but I don't know that for sure. I have seen very similar dolls online, and they were described as having composition bodies. This doll's body is either composition or a plaster-type material. The doll's hair looks as though it was cut, and his body has some cracks, crazing, and chips. There is a hole in his left leg covering/stocking, and his heel beneath it has a chip. He is strung with elastic cord and jointed at the neck, hips, shoulders, elbows, and knees. The elastic cord is worn out, so the joints are very loose. He has sleep eyes with peach-colored wax used to create the color of the eyelids. There is a stain on the chest area of his shirt has a stain, as well as some spots closer to the bottom is his shirt.
There are some dark marks on the bottoms of his woven straw shoes, and the belt around his waist has been torn on the left side. Now, I'm actually not sure if he originally came with the coat he is wearing because it's HUGE on him.
It also covers his lovely clothing, and I can't imagine why anyone would want to do that! The belt around his waist is sewn in place at the knot, though, and makes it impossible to remove the coat without cutting these stitches.
So, the coat may be original. I believe he once has a hat, which got lost, somewhere along the line.
The doll is about 11.5 inches tall, with an open mouth and teeth. Please note: Colors in photos may differ slightly from those of the actual item, and terms for the names of colors can be subjective, depending on who is using them. What is teal to one person may be turquoise to another.
I do my very best to describe items accurately, and please be aware that subtle differences of opinion as to the names of colors may occur. Out of fairness to all prospective buyers, auctions must run their full length (unless a fixed price option is taken) and at their assigned price.
