All the needed info without the flowery hard sell stuff--just the basics. I have used "German Doll Marks & Identification book by Jurgen & Marianne Cieslik for identification, and Linda Edward's Book "Doll Values Antique to Modern as price reference. This is a turned shoulder head doll made by Kestner. This is an undamaged Kestner shoulder head. There are no hairline cracks. She has replaced antique glass blue sleep eyes. Her ears are not pierced. She has an open mouth with 4 teeth. Her plaster pate is long gone but some plaster remains. She has a Global cork pate. She is wearing a beautiful thick blonde mohair curly wig. I don't know the age of the wig.
I cannot see if there are any markings at bottom under leather. The leather body is in very good condition. It has the usual scuffing & surface marring that is common.
The cloth lower legs are not torn but the right one has been reattached making it a bit shorter than the left. There is an opening in the knee joint that must have leaked at some point as there is stuffing in the sock. I have put a small piece of tape over it after the picture. She is wearing older/antique dress. I don't know the age.
It looks like a 2 piece outfit but it has been sewn together. It is in very good condition. The bodice is lined with muslin, the skirt with a somewhat stiff mesh that I have seen in older dresses. I think the material is a fine light weight wool. It is a dark cream color with black polka dots.
It closes in front with 3 hooks but there are blue buttons. There is an area on the right sleeve that has melted but the lining makes it hard to see if you are not looking for it. There are a few pin point holes elsewhere.
The dress is actually a little big for the doll. I have chosen an antique chemise that has a lace collar. This provides just the right amount of extra coverage wo you don't see where the bisque is attached to the body. She also has an antique half slip and panties. These are in excellent condition. They are similar in color but not a set. She has old cotton socks and reproduction faux suede boots. That is probably not that old. TELL ME PLEASE if you want the stand included.
Many of these have been put together with parts bought separately over years. I describe to the best of my ability.Packing is with clean and washed materials that otherwise would have wound up in the recycling bin. It is not elegant but will keep the doll safe. FOR PACKING I USE CLEAN PLASTICS THAT CAN BE RECYCLED, NOT NEW PACKING MATERIALS. THE BOX/PACKING MAY NOT LOOK PRETTY BUT IT IS SECURE. THESE MATERIALS MAY BE PLASTIC MILK CARTONS, NEWSPAPERM EMPTY FOOD PACKAGES, ETC. THE HEAD IS WRAPPED IN EITHER NEW OR USED BUBBLE WRAP.
