Liquidating my entire antique doll business as time permits. Unfortunately I don't have access to any of my books (in storage) so I can not provide an exact timeframe on this, nor known historical figure.
I've only ever had Dressel & Kister half doll pin cushions before this one. There is less than an inch between the torso and legs, so it couldn't be a pin cushion. I wasn't sure what category to put this in, as she is a "doll" and not a pin cushion or figurine as presented. She is in what appears to be her original long flowing evening gown, albeit very worn. The dress has a silver metallic thread over a silk lace slip. She measures 7 1/4 tall. I can not remove torso to check for marks, but she is very finely detailed as D&K's are. The porcelain is finely detailed and very well painted. Check out the detail in her fingers. Check out the detailed gold painted shoes.
Her hair style is very elaborate and again finely painted. I don't see any damage to the porcelain, just a couple of small rubs to the shoes. There is one small black speck on the forehead. The back of the dress is in better condition than the front. I believe for someone with fine sewing skills, the front of the dress could be gathered and sewn to perform a detailed restoration to present much better. If nothing else, the dress could be used to recreate a replacement dress. She is an amazing doll and in what I believe is a rare form. All of my items are price below my original cost to reflect the current market.
